i am aarón montoya-moraga (they/them). i go by aya, which is short for ayayay and my artist name.

i am based in Valparaíso, i am a professor at the schools of design of Universidad de Chile and Universidad Diego Portales. i run my own small business and art studio piruetas, and the netlabel bandurria.

i hold a master's from MIT Media Lab and another one from NYU ITP. my research focuses on open source media arts, machine learning, and digital rights. i have given talks or exhibited at NYU Tisch, W3C, Pioneer Works, New Latin Wave, among others.

since 2016 i contribute to Processing (released p5.js site & book in Spanish).
